Living the Anabaptist Story
The final section of Catechism is focused on "Living Out God's Story" and "Sharing God's Story with Others". We will also be looking into our Mennonite/Anabaptist roots. Below is a schedule for the final months of gatherings - we will plan on having two classes per month as close together as possible, since I also teach HS Sunday school.

Catechism @ Home Video
Below are the videos for our Catechism youth to watch with their families. These videos follow the themes from our Catechism curriculum, God's Story, Our Story by Michelle Hershberger. It also provides the big picture of the Biblical narrative that help us understand how we fit into God's Story. Please see the schedule below for what week we will be watching each video.

Catechism in a nut shell
Part 1: God's Story
We begin our Catechism class by asking "What is your story?" The youth usually respond by telling their story starting at their birth. But their stories really begin at the beginning - as a part of God's creation if they choose to be a part of God's story. By choosing to follow Jesus, they become a part of God's story - past, present and future.
The first section of Catechism is centered around understanding God's story as we read it in the Bible.
With the help of Michelle Hershberger's book God's Story, Our Story we learn about God's story of salvation throughout history. Youth are invited to make a commitment to Christ and join the body of Christ, the church through baptism.

PART 2: OUR STORY
During the middle section of Catechism we work on writing our stories - our testimonies. The youth share their faith stories and commitments to Christ and the church on the Sunday of their baptism. Following baptism, the church community welcomes the new members to the body of Christ with a social event. Then we begin the conversation about what does it mean to be a disciple of Christ? Just like a tree, our faith needs watering to grow, so we talk about the various disciplines to help them grow individually and corporately as a part of the church community.
Part 3: Their Story
In this The final section of our Catechism class we focus on the question, "so I have been baptized now what?" During this section we talk about what it means to be a part of the church in the past and today. We also prepare to live out Jesus' instructions in Matthew 28:18-20a: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."
In this final section we focus outward to share with those around us how our story and God's story intertwine. As we witness to God's faithfulness in Jesus in our lives, we also invite others to know God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit better. Sometimes we witness to others with words and other times our decisions and the way we live our lives speaks loudly.
We conclude our Catechism class with a celebration and an invitation for the youth to remain connected to the body of Christ to participate in the mission Jesus has called us to.
